2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Best Dressed of the Year

Creating this years Best Dressed of the Year list was no easy task. The celebrities to take to the red carpet brought the glam, edge, and elegance to everything that they had. With over 35 pages of nominees bestowed from week to week on the blogs Facebook page I had over 1300 looks to choose from. I cut that down to a mere ten which took weeks to be able to do. I present to you without further or do the 2012 Best Dressed of the Year list!

From now until the first of January I will be taking a break from the blog to enjoy the holidays with my family and friends. I want to thank each and every single reader that includes those who are religious loyal followers and those that just pass by. I can not believe how many people that I have reached since starting this blog a year and a half ago! I hope all my readers will continue to follow me into awards season in 2013, there are going to be some amazing posts coming out of that. I have some plans in the works for some new features that I think all my readers will enjoy, but for now I am signing off until the New Year! See you all then!

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Brand of the Year

This year there was no distinct ready to wear award just an award for the overall times a designer was worn on the red carpet. Elie Saab was leaps and bound over many of the other designers this year and as I said when he won the Couturier of the Year award last year this does not come as a surprise to be because he is my favorite brand to see hit the red carpet because in his amazing glamorous designs celebrities are pretty much tasked to make them look bad. So here is some of your pretty for the year: Katie Holmes at the Vanity Fair Oscar After Party, Elizabeth Banks at the 'The Hunger Games' Germany Premiere, Fan Bingbing at the Chopard Trophy Party during the Cannes Film Festival, and Keira Knightley at the 'Anna Karenina' premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.
Rose Byrne at the SAG Awards, Jessica Chastain at the Charlie Chaplin Awards, Milla Jovovich at the Academy Sci/Tech Awards, Shu Qi at the Piaget China Boutique Opening.
Catherine Kallon at the Art of Elysium Heaven Gala, Emma Stone at the Essence 'Black Women in Hollywood' lunchon, Princess Clotilde of Savoy at the Luxembourg Royal Wedding Gala Dinner, and Princess Stephanie of Luxembourg at the Luxembourg Royal Wedding

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Couturier of the Year

Atelier Versace was the couturier that ended up on the best dressed list the most often this year. I find it hard to find someone who can not love a stunning Atelier Versace look on the red carpet and very few times does the look fail. My favorite Atelier Versace red carpet moment came by the way of the regal white and red gown worn by Angelina Jolie (L) at the Golden Globe Awards. My other favorites included Elisabetta Canalis at the Sanremo Music Festival, as well as Kate Hudson and Selena Gomez at the Venice Film Festival.
A selection of a few of my other favorites are Heidi Klum at the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Viewing Party, Kate Beckinsale at the Vanity Fair Oscar After Party, Milla Jovovich at the amFAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala during the Cannes Film Festival, and Lucy Liu at the HBO Emmy Awards After-Party.

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Most Disappointing

This pains me to give this Most Disappointing award to Cate Blanchett. She has long been a favorite of mine on the red carpet but this year she just wore a bunch of looks that I just could not get behind. It started with the awful Louis Vuitton dress, then move to an awkward Givenchy, came to a head in a horrible Fendi and started the spiral again in Antonio Beradi.
Because I could not just say she was horrible all year the three looks above were my favorite a gold and a black Alexander McQueen and a black Givenchy were when Cate was at the top of her game this year but ultimately there were more plunges than peaks.

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Best Dressed Event

There were thousands of events but the 2013 Prada Schiaparelli: Impossible Conversations gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute. This event drew in over two pages of names onto the best dressed of the year list. Pictured above were my top 5 looks from the event. From L to R: Nina Dobrev in Donna Karan Atelier, Beyonce in Givenchy, Carey Mulligan in Prada, Karolina Kurkova in Rachel Zoe, and Caroline Trentini in Olivier Theyskens.

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Best 50+ Award

There was no other winner for this award once Meryl Streep stepped out wearing her black Vivienne Westwood couture gown at this years BAFTA awards. The actress who is 63 year young looked absolutely fantastic at all the events that she attended. wearing Alessandra Rich for the Golden Globes and MaxMara for the Lucy + Crystal Women In Film Awards. The other bright shining moment for the Oscar winning actress was whens she won her second Academy Award wearing a gold Lanvin gown, the same color as the only other time the actress won the prestigious acting awad/

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Best Under 25

Emma Stone gave Diane Kruger a run for her money this year wearing many amazing looks on the red carpet this year. Barely sneaking under the limit at 24 Emma wins this Best Under 25 Award. Emma is always a delight to see on the red carpet as she always looks fantastic in whatever she wears. Having relationships with Gucci, Lanvin, Burberry, and Chanel she always looks stunning mixed with the occasional Alexander McQueen, Giambattista Valli, or Narciso Rodriguez.

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Red Carpet Diva of 2012

Diane Kruger has always been one of my absolute favorites to see grace the red carpets for quite some time. This year she maintained her title from last year wearing some absolutely fantastic looks. Last year Diane won the title for attending many isolated events and making an appearance at some of the major film festivals. This year Diane still attended all those isolated parties and award shows as well as serving on the jury during the Cannes Film Festival. Sans last year the Red Carpet Diva of the Year usually goes hand in hand with a jury member of the Cannes Film Festival because they are thrown gorgeous couture gowns to wear over the two week period of the festival. My top four looks from Diane are pictured in chronological order, Prada at the Critics Choice Movie Awards, Giambattista Valli at the Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony, Vivienne Westwood at the Cannes Film Festival Premiere of 'Amour,' and Jason Wu at the Carnival for Haiti Benefit during the Cannes Film Festival.
Versus Fall 2012 RTW at the Cannes Film Festival Judges Photocall, Chanel Resort 2013 at the amFAR Cinema Against AIDS gala, Christian Dior Spring 2012 Couture at the Cannes Film Festival Closing Ceremony, Valentino Fall 2012 Couture at the Toronto Film Festival premiere of 'Inescapable.'
Alessandra Rich Spring 2013 at the Festival Night party at the Berlin Film Festival, Prabal Gurung Fall 2012 RTW at the One Night in Monoco Gala, Azzedine Alaia at the 'Farewell My Queen' New York Screening, Jason Wu Spring 2013 RTW at the Jaeger-LeCoultre Place Vendome Boutique Opening.
10 Crosby Derek Lam at the 'Farewell My Queen' Berlin Film Festival Photocall, Atelier Versace at the Versace Eyewear Dinner, Chanel Fall 2011 Couture at the Chanel Pre-Oscar dinner, Marchesa Resort 2013 at the Jacob & Co Charity Gala.
Versace Resort 2012 at the Atelier Versace Spring 2012 Couture presentation, Giambattista Valli Fall 2011 Couture at the Giambattista Valli Spring 2013 Couture presentation, Derek Lam Fall 2012 RTW at the 'Farewell My Queen' Paris Premiere, and Calvin Klein at the Calvin Klein party during the Cannes Film Festival.

Will Diane hold her title three years in a row?!

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Best Street Style

There was no competition when it came to the winner of 'Best Street Style of the Year.' Miranda Kerr worked the sidewalk, not that way get your mind out of the gutter, like she was walking a runway each and every time that she stepped out. She won over my eyes wearing some amazing looks from the likes of Balenciaga, Victoria Beckham, Erdem, Isabel Marant, and Marni for her everyday looks. And her accessories were always just as amazing including Lanvin pumps, Prada handbags, and RayBan aviators

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Best Promotional Tour

There were some amazing promotional tours that played out this year, Elizabeth Banks for the Hunger Games, Kristen Stewart for Breaking Dawn and On the Road, among many others. Only one reigned supreme wearing several amazing ensemble, Kate Beckinsale for 'Total Recall.' She stepped out wearing some amazing gown from Donna Karan, Naeem Khan, and Armani Prive for the red carpet premieres. She looked amazing wearing each and every single one of them. I had actually predicted the black Donna Karan Fall 2012 RTW gown that she wore for the London Premiere of the film.
Kate also looked amazing at the less formal events promoting the film such as Photocalls, After-Parties, a Comic-Con panel, and a press day wearing J. Mendel, Andrew Gn, Rag & Bone, and Preen. I have to say that Kate continues to be one of my absolute favorite celebrities to take to the red carpet.

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Risk Taker of the Year

Elizabeth Banks rocked the red carpet this year. Premiering two films 'The Hunger Games' and 'What To Expect When Your Expecting' Elizabeth did her best to look fabulous on the red carpet whilst wearing some red carpet ensembles that most would never wear on a normal day. The first stunning look was the green polka dotted Chadwick Bell Fall 2012 RTW gown accented with blue feathers that she wore for the Vanity Fair Oscar After-Party. The unofficial Versace brand ambassador wowed at the 'Hunger Games' LA premiere wearing a stunning tangerine Atelier Versace Spring 2012 Couture dress. Elizabeth took the biggest risk of the night at the Met Ball in May wearing a Mary Katranzou Fall 2012 RTW gown. And last but not least her black spider-web lace Elie Saab Fall 2012 RTW jumpsuit as worn to the 2012 MTV Movie Awards in June. I hope to see many more amazing looks from Elizabeth as she is one of my favorites on the red carpet.

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: One to Watch Award

During the 2012 Venice Film Festival Maika Monroe wow'ed me wearing my favorite white Marchesa Fall 2012 RTW gown that walked the runway and saved my heart from breaking by wearing it before it got lost in the houses glamourous archives. Maika is in the film 'At Any Price' with heartthrob Zac Efron and it is a contender for a big reception this coming awards season and I would love to see Maika walk the red carpet as she has already seemed to form a bond with Marchesa as she wore a pink Resort 2013 dress to the New York Fashion Week presentation of the Marchesa Spring 2013 collection where she sat front row just a few mere days after wowing in Venice.

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Best Brand Ambassador

I know that many fashion industry critics will highly disagree but I was not thrilled with any of the brand ambassadors on the red carpet this year sans for Marion Cotillard. I think the reason that most do not like her looks on the red carpet are that basically all that she wears is Christian Dior and that after a while the looks from the collections all start to look the same on the French beauty. But she really looked fantastic 9/10 in her looks. She started her fantastic run with the photocall of 'Rust & Bone' at the Cannes Film Festival, and has not slowed down since. I am looking forward to seeing what she will bring during awards season if nominations go the way that the film critics are predicting.

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Best Dressed Foreigner and Best Dressed Head of State

Best Dressed Foreigner and Best Dressed Head of State go to Catherine the Duchess of Cambridge. The stunning princess looked amazing this year at all of her public duties. One of my favorites was when she actually took a rare step from wearing British brands ans wore an amazing purple Rorschach print Prabal Gurung dress will on her Asian Jubuliee tour. Her lavender Erdem dress at the Trooping the Color was also amazing. And then of course we have two looks from Catherine's go to designer Alexander McQueen I love both the white Resort 2012 coat as well as the nude lace dress. The only fault I find in most of her look are her lack of variety when it comes to shoe choice.
She also stunned in plenty of evening gowns this year my two favorite were her cream Roland Mouret gown and her teal Jenny Packham. She knows how to mix her royal must haves, modern styles, and fashion forward all at the same time. She does this all while promoting the brands that come out of the country that she represents, which is a huge task.

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Best Stage Costume

Up until I Saturday, December 1st, there were was a tie between Celine Dion in Versace at the 2012 BAMBI Awards and Kylie Minogue in Julien MacDonald at the Royal Variety Performance, but as I was watching the video for Celine's performance at the BAMBI Awards I saw in the recomended videos the top of this stunning Atelier Versace Spring 2012 Couture gown and I just had to click on it and then got blown away by how amazing this looked on Celine. I had lost all hope of seeing this gown on a major celebrity which disappointed me as it was one of my favorites from this collection so Celine really wowed me wearing this. If you followed this blog last year then you will know that Celine won the Best Stage Style Award last year and I am glad to see that she still has it.

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Best Plus Size

Octavia Spencer did full figured girls proud this year wearing amazing flattering looks for her entire Awards Season run. Starting with a Grecian draped David Meister navy blue gown at the Palm Springs Film Festival Awards, then her Tadashi Shoji run began with her lilac ruched gown at the Golden Globe awards, aqua draped gown at the NAACP Awards, and then her fully beaded platinum gown at the 2012 Academy Awards. I loved seeing Octavia on the red carpet surpassing those that are usually heavy hitters on the red carpet and am hoping to see her on the red carpet during the 2013 awards season red carpets.

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Queen of Couture

Penelope Cruz is the winner of this years Queen of Couture. Now while she did not wear a couture look off the runway she wore a custom Armani Prive gown for the 2012 Oscars and the reveal of her Campari Calendar, and then she divulged herself into the Gianni Versace vintage couture creation closet for a bunch of premieres. My favorite of these looks is definitely her smokey blue Armani Prive gown that she gave total Grace Kelly glam in at the 2012 Academy Awards.

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Best Dressed Newcomer

The breakout hit of this year was the Best Picture winning film, 'The Artist.' French actress Berenice Bejo was one of the stars of the film who she herself found herself nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture at the 2012 Academy Awards. Well she has had some amazing looks between awards season and then she was the Mistress of Ceremonies at the Cannes Film Festival and she just brought all the couture to the red carpet, a la Marion Cotillard when she first showed up on the scene with her Academy Award win in 2008. She wowed wearing a beige and red Giambattista Valli Spring 2012 Couture gown at the amFAR gala during the Cannes Film Festival, a mod style Louis Vuitton Spring 2013 RTW dress at the 'Populaire' Paris Premiere, Gucci Premiere at the Golden Globe Awards, and then my favorite a custom red Louis Vuitton chiffon bustle gown. The red Louis Vuitton gown was my favorite out of anything that she wore this year and was on the Best Dressed of the Year contenders list for almost up till the end.

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Magnificent to Tragic Award

It truly pains me to give this award. I fell in love with Jennifer Lawrence back during awards season 2011 where she stunned in custom Louis Vuitton and bold Oscar de la Renta gowns. She started this year off on an amazing foot wearing an avant garde electric blue Viktor & Rolf Spring 2012 RTW dress at the Peoples Choice Awards and then continued to wow wearing gold gown from Prabal Gurung  Fall 2012 RTW and Ralph Lauren for the major 'Hunger Games' premieres. Then in August Jennifer was named one of the faces of Christian Dior. I was intrigued by this thought but knowing the past track record with Dior spokesmodels I also feared. These fears came true at the Toronto Film Festival premiere of 'Silver Linings Playbook,' where she wore a bold print Christian Dior Fall 2012 Couture ball gown that either needed to be lengthened or shortened, then she wore the Christian Dior  Spring 2013 RTW pantsuit for the 'Silver Linings Playbook' New York premiere and this was bad from the scarf to the hair and makeup to the fit, and then the satin Christian Dior Spring 2013 RTW coat dress also was with bad hair, makeup, and fit. Jennifer changed stylists when she became the new face of Christian Dior and I am pleading that she goes crawling back to whoever she was with at the beginning of the year because that's when she was on top form.

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Best Comeback

After disappearing from the red carpet for a while or having non inspireng looks Charlize Theron really wowed through the year. The first amazing look she gave us was a black Azzendine Alaia Fall 2011 Couture gown at the Critics Choice Movie Awards, then continued to wow in a custom Christian Dior nude gown at the Golden Globe Awards (this was on the list of Best Dressed of the Year contenders). A red Lanvin Fall 2012 RTW peplum dress worn to the MTV Movie Awards looked amazing and was just a sleek simple look and a sheer Christian Dior Spring 2012 Couture gown for the Snow White and the Huntsman premiere in London. I hope we continue to see amazing looks from Charlize as we head into 2013.

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Best Dressed Fashion Editor

Anna Wintour is the queen of the fashion industry as the editor in chief of American Vogue and she has had an amazing run style wise this year. From her printed Marc Jacobs Resort 2013 dress at the CFDA Awards and her custom Prada gown at the MET Ball to her Marc Jacobs trench coat and Versace Fall 2012 RTW gothic cross dress she wore to a Broadway premiere, Anna has had an amazing year and I only hope to see her wear more amazing looks in 2013 and hold her reign on this title next year and with relationships with Marc Jacobs, Miuccica Prada, Karl Lagerfeld, Oscar de la Renta, and Donatella Versace I think that this is a huge possibility.

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Most Improved

During last years Best of 2011 Awards, I gave Michelle Williams the 'Most Disappointing' Award. I am happy to report that she seems to have gotten to Michelle that she needed to step up her game because she looked absolutely amazing this year. from her Jason Wu sweater/leather skirt and white Alexander McQueen gown to her Louis Vuitton Oscar dress and her pink bow Valentino dress she looked amazing. She even took a few risks this year like an amazing bell shaped Christian Dior Couture gown. Michelle listen up baby keep up the good work because you have actually been pleasantly surprising me.

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Best Dressed Model

There were several contenders for this award as the models really stepped out on the red carpet this year but ultimately after a lot of consideration Jessica Stam won out. I have to say that it was really a no brainier especially after the medieval armor inspired Christian Dior gown she wore to the Met Ball, which made it on the top ten list from the event and was on the list of contenders for the Best Dressed of the Year List for quite some time. Other notable moments she had on the red carpet were her red Valentino gown at the American Ballet Theater's Spring Gala, a blue Jason Wu gown at the CFDA Awards, and the 20's inspired Marchesa ensemble. Congrats Jessica on your win!

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Best Dressed TV Personality

This year the women who judge/host TV shows be them competition or not have really brought it to the in home screens across the world. This year Nina Garcia won out amongst the names of some fashion heavy hitters. Nina looked amazing from the first episode (wearing Dolce & Gabbana) to the finale (wearing Lanvin). She also stunned from week to week wearing designers like Vionnet and Gucci (pictured) Yves St Laurent and Balmain. I have to say that Nina definitely brought the fashion editor best to the screen and always look fashion forward but sophisticated. Congrats on your win Nina!

2012 End of the Year Style Awards: Best Ensemble Cast

If it has been one cast this year that has really brought it on the red carpet when it came to promoting their film, it was definitely the cast of 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2.' The stars must have been in cohorts with each other because none of them really had a misstep on the red carpet at any of the premieres. And of course we have to give credit where credit is due and congratulate Kristen Stewart for finding her red carpet legs and looking fantastic alongside (from left to right) Judi Shekoni (in Chagoury Couture), Julia Jones (in KaufmanFranco), Elizabeth Reaser (in Carolina Herrera), Ashley Greene (in Donna Karan Atelier), Kristen Stewart (in Zuhair Murad), Nikki Reed (in Versace), Dakota Fanning (in Elie Saab), Myanna Burning (in Vivienne Westwood), and Maggie Grace (in Bibhu Mohapatra.) Congrats to the cast on their outstanding efforts they have definitely paid off
